Despite the dire situation in the world associated with the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, which subsequently caused a pandemic, Russian Mining Chemical Company LLC proceeds running a large investment project for the development of the Savkinsky deposit.
The attractiveness of the Savkinsky deposit development project lies in the unique amount of brucite or magnesium hydroxide reserves (more than 22 million tons), which will enable quarrying up to 500 thousand tons of ore per year, and the close proximity to markets in Southeast and East Asia.
RMCC LLC has designed a multi-year phased program for the development of the Savkinsky deposit, according to which the production start is foreseen for early 2025.
To this date, works on the approved project of development and exploitation of the deposit are carried out within the established time limit.
Thus, by mid-May 2020, the roadway construction and the construction of an exploration camp for employees to stay have been completed in compliance with all hygienic standards. The exploration camp is provided with comfortable living conditions: modern all-weather residential tents, a dining room, a bath complex, as well as a high-speed satellite connection.
On May 16, 2020, drilling activities have begun at the Savkinsky deposit, the first samples of brucite rocks were handed over to the laboratory at the Kuldur brucite mine. Findings of laboratory testing of samples showed high quality of brucite ore and almost complete absence of iron impurities.
The targeted drilling meterage at the project evaluation stage amounts to 12,900 meters of core drilling (HQ). The activities are in progress.
